In the heart of Brighton, Natasha Paling, a dedicated teacher at Balfour Primary School, has become a beacon of hope and support for local families. Known for her compassionate approach and tireless efforts, Natasha has set up a community pantry, aptly named The Pantry, to assist parents in need by providing food, uniforms, and other essentials, all for free.

The idea for The Pantry was born while Natasha was still training as a teacher. She envisioned a non-judgemental space where parents could access necessary items without the stigma often associated with food banks. To bring this vision to life, Natasha raises funds through charity fun runs and rallies the community for donations.

Louise Batten, a parent at the school, praises Natasha's thoughtful approach. "Calling it The Pantry was a considered action by Natasha to make it a place where people can go to get the things they need, from food to uniform. There’s even an aisle that’s like the ‘middle of Lidl’ with a different theme each month."

Natasha's dedication extends beyond The Pantry. She is known for her exceptional communication with parents, often reaching out to discuss their child's day personally. This level of care ensures that children have a positive start to their educational journey.

Emma McRobb, another parent, describes Natasha as "the most wonderful teacher ever," highlighting her personal engagement with students and parents alike. Natasha's enthusiasm and creativity, especially during dress-up days, bring joy to the entire school community.

Natasha's efforts have not gone unnoticed. Nominated by numerous parents for the Teacher of the Year award, she stands as a testament to the impact one individual can have on a community. The competition, held by Miconex and sponsored by GiftRound, allows people to vote for their favourite teacher until August 31, with the winner announced in September.

Balfour Primary School's headteacher, Alan Gunn, sums it up perfectly: "Natasha is an amazing teacher and makes such a positive difference to so many of our families."

Natasha Paling's story is a shining example of community spirit, dedication, and the profound difference one person can make.
