The vibrant city of Brighton is set to host its first-ever Queer Prom, a heartwarming initiative designed to offer LGBTQ+ young people in Sussex a prom experience where they can truly be themselves. Organised by Allsorts Youth in collaboration with Brighton & Hove Museums, this fabulous event will take place on 10th July at the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.
Imagine a night where the museum’s Central Gallery transforms into a dazzling hub of music, art, and queer joy. This prom is not just any prom; it’s a celebration of identity, community, and pride for LGBTQ+ young people aged 16 to 21. For years, many have felt out of place or unwelcome at traditional proms, but this event marks a turning point.
The team at Allsorts Youth is committed to ensuring every LGBTQ+ young person feels acknowledged, celebrated, and surrounded by joy. This event is a wonderful opportunity for young people to connect with others, build a sense of community, and embrace their true selves in a supportive environment.
Hedley Swain, CEO of Brighton & Hove Museums, expresses pride in hosting the event, highlighting the importance of creating a space where LGBTQ+ young people can celebrate freely and authentically.
If you’re a young person in Sussex or know someone who could benefit from this uplifting experience, make sure to grab a free ticket for this unforgettable night of celebration. And if you’re considering a move to this inclusive and vibrant city, we at Sawyer & Co are here to help you find your perfect home. Brighton is not just a place; it’s a community that welcomes all with open arms.
