Brighton is about to experience a vibrant splash of creativity this May, as BHT Sussex, a dedicated local charity, unveils an inspiring public exhibition titled ‘BHT Sussex in Focus’. This exhibition promises to be a heartfelt showcase of art and written work by individuals who have triumphed over homelessness, mental ill health, and addiction. From 26th to 30th May, the charity’s main office at 144 London Road will transform into a gallery of hope and expression, open daily from 10am to 4pm.
Thanks to the generous support of Arts Council England, this exhibition will feature a rich tapestry of creative expressions. Expect to be moved by paintings, drawings, poetry, and journal writings that reflect the journeys of BHT Sussex’s clients. Participants hail from various BHT Sussex initiatives, including Addiction Services, mental health care homes, supported accommodation, and hostels for those experiencing homelessness.
Anna Kuzan, the Involvement Officer at BHT Sussex, expresses her enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to invite the community to this fantastic exhibition in May. Our aim is to inspire our clients to channel their emotions and stories through art, boosting their confidence while providing them with a platform to share their voices.”
The exhibition will kick off on 26th May with a lively pop-up gig featuring the Choir with no Name Brighton, a choir composed of individuals who have faced homelessness and marginalisation. Additionally, an anthology book featuring contributions from BHT Sussex clients and staff will be available for purchase, offering a tangible piece of this inspiring event.
As you plan your visit, remember that Brighton is a city full of stories. If you’re considering making it your home, we at Sawyer & Co are here to help you find your perfect place in this vibrant community.
