Brighton’s Vegan Challenge Heats Up Again

As the autumn leaves fall, Brighton is gearing up for a culinary spectacle that promises to tantalise taste buds and champion sustainability. The Great MOSHIMO Vegan Challenge is back, bringing together twelve of Brighton and Sussex’s finest chefs for a plant-based cook-off like no other. Whether you’re a seasoned vegan or just curious, this event is set to be a highlight of the season.

Mark your calendars for the first heat on Thursday, 19th November, and the second on Thursday, 10th December, both hosted at the iconic MOSHIMO in Bartholomew Square. With only 120 seats available per heat and tickets priced at £48, it’s a hot ticket item! Last year’s event sold out in just 24 hours, so don’t delay in securing your spot.

The challenge, which began in 2010, was a trailblazer in promoting plant-based eating, earning MOSHIMO the prestigious “Proggy” award from PETA. It’s not just about great food; it’s about making a difference. Originally launched alongside the impactful Fishlove campaign, the challenge has been a catalyst for change, influencing EU fishing laws and promoting sustainable eating.

This year, the chefs – hailing from the region’s top restaurants, street-food kitchens, and pop-ups – will be revealed later this month. They’ll compete to impress diners, who will vote for their favourites, with the top three from each heat advancing to the Grand Final in spring 2027.

If you’re local to Brighton, this is an event not to be missed. And if you’re considering a move to this vibrant city, let us at Sawyer & Co help you find the perfect home to enjoy all that Brighton has to offer.
