Brighton & Hove is buzzing with excitement as the city council proudly announces its participation in the Sussex Six campaign, thanks to a generous £155,000 grant from the government. This initiative is all about bringing more local food and drink to our shop shelves and menus, and it’s a deliciously exciting time for our community.
The Sussex Six campaign, run by Natural Partnerships, is a fantastic opportunity for hospitality and retail businesses to embrace at least six more local food and drink products or ingredients. With this new funding, Brighton & Hove City Council is teaming up with the Sussex Six and the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership to make it easier for local food businesses to supply public sector organisations, including hospitals, schools, and colleges.
But that’s not all! The campaign will also host regular “meet the producer” events, connecting businesses with local providers. Seasonal campaigns will raise awareness of the fantastic produce available during peak times. Businesses that sign up for the Sussex Six pledge will enjoy free membership in the Sussex Food & Drink Network, gaining exposure through the campaign website, social media, and the Sussex Food & Drink Directory. Plus, they’ll receive a snazzy Sussex Six window sticker and digital marketing pack.
Nearly 200 businesses across Sussex have already made the Sussex Six pledge, supporting local businesses, reducing food miles, and strengthening our community. Brighton & Hove City Council is eager to see more sign-ups from our vibrant hospitality sector.
