Brighton Pop-Up: Free Fish, Find Pets

Brighton’s seafront was buzzing with excitement as Captain’s fish and chip shop transformed into a ‘microchip shop’ for a day! On June 18th, Pet Database took over the beloved eatery, serving up complimentary fish and chips wrapped in newspaper-style sheets featuring details of missing pets from across Sussex. The goal? To turn locals into a community search network, helping reunite lost pets with their owners.

This creative campaign was not just about enjoying a delicious seaside treat. With QR codes printed alongside the missing pet notices, residents could report sightings and share information instantly. What a pawsome way to bring the community together for a cause close to many hearts!

The event highlighted a common issue: many pet owners are not keeping their microchip records up to date. According to research commissioned by Pet Database, two-thirds of UK pet owners fear losing their pet, yet nearly a quarter delay updating microchip details due to perceived complexity. This pop-up offered a solution, inviting visitors to check and update their pet’s details on the Pet Database platform free of charge.

Partnering with TV personality Chris Hughes, the campaign encouraged locals to join the search effort. With 84% of pet owners willing to help find a missing pet, Brighton showed its community spirit in full force.

Whether you’re a pet owner or simply love fish and chips, this event was a win-win for everyone involved. If you’re thinking of moving house or need help navigating pet databases, we at Sawyer & Co are here to assist with all your property needs. Let’s keep our furry friends safe and sound!
