Born in Brighton, Chris began his career in 1988 at a small local independent agent. From there he moved on to a large chain of estate agents where he quickly progressed to senior management level.
In 1996 Chris co-launched Tingleys Estate Agents which became one of the city's most respected independent companies and in 2009, following his acquisition of the business, Sawyer & Co was launched.
During 2016 Chris was the President of the Brighton & Hove Estate Agents Association (BHEAA) a role in which he was able to show his commitment to improving and maintaining the highest standards possible within the profession. The role enabled him to continue his longstanding support of numerous local charities and organisations, helping them to raise vital funds and awareness of their work. Chris is also a member of the National Advisory Council of the Guild of Professional Estate Agents.
An avid Brighton & Hove Albion supporter, Chris lives in Brighton and is married with 2 daughters.
Adam grew up in Hove and has enjoyed a career in property sales and lettings since the late 1990's. Developing a well-rounded experience in both independent and corporate estate agency, Adam has progressed from Negotiator to Branch Manager and is now a Company Director.
Having passed the highest level exams, Adam holds a Fellow grade of membership at the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA). He has also achieved a Diploma in Surveying Practice at the College of Estate Management and is a member of the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) after passing their Technical Award exams.
Adam joined the Portslade office at the beginning of 2006 when the company was known as Tingleys Estate Agents. In 2014 he helped launch the Sawyer & Co Brighton office and with his hands on approach to management he continues to build on the company’s success.
Adam is married with three children and now lives in Steyning, whilst also being addicted to hang gliding!
Associate Director, Hove Branch
Winner of the Relocation Agent Network 2016 Employee of the Year Award and a shortlisted finalist for The Times Manager of the Year Award, Nick embarked on his career in Estate Agency straight from college in 2002 and has never looked back.
With a natural flair for the job, his friendly and professional manner allows him to quickly develop a strong rapport with customers and clients. Nick is proud to have passed the Technical Award examinations at the National Association of Estate Agents has become an experienced property valuer.
Nick is a keen footballer and an avid fan of Brighton & Hove Albion.
Associate Director, Portslade Branch
Having returned home in early 2009 from travelling the world, it was clear to James where his career ambitions lay…Estate Agency. With a background in sales and marketing, he embraced the role of a Sales and Lettings Negotiator, quickly progressing to become Branch Manager and then Associate Director. James’ friendly and honest manner endears him to clients who are always impressed with his consistently attentive and efficient level of service. James is a self-confessed gym addict and a keen distance runner. He currently lives in South Portslade with his girlfriend.
Branch Manager, Hove Branch
Born in Brighton, Ashley finished his education and moved to Cyprus to work in the tourism industry. After a few years Ashley moved back to Brighton with his girlfriend and settled once again in the city where he joined an independent estate agent and started his career. Ashley quickly took to Estate Agency and fast progressed in his roles before joining another large independent agency within the city. Within a year of joining the new company Ashley was promoted to manager and grew the business year on year. Being aware of Sawyer & Co’s superb reputation, he did not hesitate to join the company when he was approached by Chris and Adam. He is currently the Branch Manager of the Hove office. Ashley’s interests are surfing, snowboarding and socialising with friends and family.
A shortlisted finalist for The Times Best Letting Agent of the Year 2016, Kerry-Anne joined Sawyer & Co in 2011 and has over 14 years' experience in estate agency.
After spending her early career working for a large corporate company in the Berkshire area, she took time off to travel Australia and Europe. On her return to the UK Kerry-Anne settled in Hove and was instrumental in the success of another independent estate agent in Hove for whom she worked for nine years.
Kerry-Anne's success at The Times Awards 2016 is due to her great enthusiasm for her job and her impressive pro-active and hard-working approach to everything she does.
After a successful career in the music industry, Dominique moved to live in Hove from London in 2005 with her husband and 2 children. She joined the company that same year and has been an integral part of our team ever since. She has a natural flair for selling or letting properties. The enjoyment that she takes in her job as well as her passion for property is very evident for our clients to see. Dominique is also a keen tennis player.
After finishing her A levels Georgia explored the world of retail and hairdressing before finding her calling - helping people move home. She has a bubbly personality and great enthusiasm for the job. Easy to speak to and always keen to help, Georgia endears herself to her customers and clients instantly and impresses them with her professionalism. She has completed the Guild of Professional Estate Agents Associate exams in Sales and Lettings, completed a full year of enhanced training via The Guild and TM Training, together with a further enhanced training course in Lettings.
Bob was born and raised in Brighton. His early career developed in the FMCG world working for Blue Chip organisations. Before commencing his long and successful career in the sports industry. Having worked for Adidas, Nike and O’Neill his career spanned 25 years rising to the position of Managing Director. In 2003 a career change beckoned and Bob took on an estate agency franchise setting up Bairstow Eves’s first office in Brighton. Following the sale of that business he spent the next few years in property development alongside creating a property search agency for London buyers wishing to move this great City. With wealth of sales, marketing and business development experience he joined Sawyer and Co from Brighton and Hove Albion (AITC) during 2014. Bob’s interests are football, racquet-ball, surfing and snowboarding. He lives in Hove with his 14 year old daughter.
Administration & Marketing
Mia joined Sawyer & Co in 2014 after the transformative experience of travelling around Asia. She studied Interior Design at college, and enjoyed a career in retail before setting off on her travels. A true Brightonian, she has lived in this fair city her entire life. Mia has quickly settled into the Sawyer & Co ‘family’ and her love for her home city as well as her attention to detail have made her the ideal choice for this administration and marketing role.
Block & Estate Manager
Sarah moved to the Brighton & Hove area from Bedfordshire where she had previously worked for a large corporate estate management company. She has 11 years’ experience in block management and has developed a passion for property. Sarah’s extensive experience has allowed her to perfect the knowledge and skills required to provide the exceptional service for which Sawyer & Co is renowned. In her spare time Sarah enjoys spending time with her two daughters and playing Netball.
Property Management Accounts
Lynette has 20 years’ experience in accounts, working almost exclusively for letting and block management companies. Her extensive experience, knowledge and skills has proven invaluable to our property management team. Lynette has always lived in Brighton & Hove, having been born educated here. Her hobbies include dancing, yoga and family days out. She is also a dedicated football fan.
Working as an apprentice in the conveyancing department of a local solicitor provided Conor with an insight into the world of property, however he craved a career with more customer contact, meetings outside the office and the buzz of closing a deal! Property sales and lettings seemed the ideal choice, and after joining Sawyer & Co in 2014, Conor has quickly established himself as a vital part of the team. Conor enjoys keeping fit at the gym, playing squash and is a qualified football referee.
Joan is a valued member of staff and joined the company 12 years ago. Highly experienced, Joan has now been working locally as an estate agent for 20 years. As a well liked character Joan's commitment, enthusiasm and enjoyment in her work are frequently mentioned by our clients. A mother and grandmother, Joan lives in Hove and is a bridge player.
Born in Portslade Louis became a welcomed member of the Sawyer and Co team in January 2016. A keen footballer, after leaving Hove Park School he joined the LTB Sussex Football Academy where he enjoyed success as part of the winning Sussex County FA U18 Cup and Southern Youth League Champions teams. Having lived in the Hangleton area for most of his life, Louis brings his love of all things Brighton and Hove and extensive local knowledge to his role as Sales Negotiator. When he isn’t working or playing for his current team, Whitehawk U18’s, he enjoys socialising and spending time with friends.
Marketing and Copywriting Manager
Jenny's love of words has led her to work at The Guardian national newspaper, interview media industry figures for Channel 4 and create a wide range of online marketing content for numerous household name companies. Having moved to Brighton over ten years ago, Jenny has a passion for property, music and football.
A true Brightonian, Emma joined the Sawyer & Co Lettings Department in February 2016 and has quickly become a valuable member of the team. As someone who loves to keep fit, Emma is an avid kickboxer and having started training in 2013 with SAMA she is rapidly progressing through the different coloured belt grading. Having lived in Brighton her whole life, Emma hopes to travel the world one day, but until then she brings her love of properties and extensive local knowledge to her role as a property manager.
After studying Sociology at Bath University, where he also ran a successful club promotions company, Matt returned to his hometown of Brighton. Having been introduced to the world of property at an early age it’s no surprise that Matt has taken to his role as a Sales Negotiator like a duck to water. A committed Seagulls supporter, when he’s not supporting the Albion Matt enjoys walking the dog on the seafront and practising his culinary skills.
Having previously worked as a project planner, Harriet’s organisational skills, combined with her diploma in Business Management, make her an ideal addition to our Property Management team. A lifelong Shoreham by Sea resident, Harriet loves cooking and enjoys watching mystery and thriller films with a good twist.
Born and bred in Brighton, Toby is a long-term resident of Fiveways and his wealth of local knowledge makes him a very welcome addition to the Lettings team.
A huge sports fan, Toby can regularly be seen perfecting his swing at Dyke Golf Club where he currently plays with a handicap of 9. When he's not on the fairway or enjoying relaxing on the beach on a hot summer’s day, he enjoys playing and watching most sports and tries to go and watch his beloved Chelsea FC as much as possible.
Lettings Accounts Manager
Having originally moved to Brighton from the Czech Republic nine years ago to learn English, Eva realised what a fantastic place to live Brighton is and decided to stay.
With over five years’ experience in Lettings Eva joined the Sawyer & Co. team in early 2016 as our Lettings Accounts Manager and she is currently studying for her AAT qualification.
When she’s not studying or working, Eva likes to relax with a session of yoga or Pilates and on a sunny day you can spot her enjoying some in-line skating on the seafront.
Residential Lettings Manager
As part of a major restructuring of the lettings department, Joe Newman has been brought in to lead the team into a new era of success. With his proven lettings experience due to having managed another local company for many years, Joe's leadership style fits perfectly with the Sawyer & Co. approach to business in general and to rentals in particular.
A firm commitment to delivering outstanding customer service is only part of Joe's outlook, as he will also be overseeing the introduction of new and innovative systems that will make sure the firm stays one step ahead of the competition.
Professional Photographer & Sales Consultant
Having grown up on the wonderful island of Sicily, Irene moved to Brighton five years ago after falling in love with our vibrant city. A professional photographer for over thirteen years, Irene began her career studying in Italy and since then has worked with a host of internationally renowned photographers and has presented her own critically acclaimed photographic exhibition, Tra Passato e Presente. Irene has always lived by the sea and loves that living in Brighton and Hove means that there is always something new around the corner to discover. When she's not busy taking beautiful photos of our properties Irene loves to go up to Devil’s Dyke and watch the sun set over the city.
A Superstar handyman, who’s Super-hardworking with a Super-sized ‘can do’ attitude and sense of humour to match, Jozef is our very own in-house contractor and all round handyman.
When he's not busy helping to keep repair and maintenance costs down for our properties, Jozef loves to spend time playing with his children or enjoying a relaxing hour or two fishing at the marina.
After finishing her degree in Spanish at Cardiff University our bilingual negotiator Jemma rewarded herself with a year in Australia. Now a Kemp Town resident and regular, it's her local knowledge, passion for property and fantastic 'people person' personality that has made her an instant hit with our clients.
Outside of the working week, when Jemma's not in the gym she's a self-confessed foodie who loves the choice of restaurants that Brighton and Hove have to offer, including all-time favourites Riddle & Finns and the Coal Shed.
Shanade McClelland MNAEA
Associate Director, Brighton Branch
Born in Brighton, Shanade knew she wanted to be an estate agent from the tender age of 14 when she chose the profession as her preferred work experience option. Following her progression to branch manager roles, Shanade moved to London where for two and a half years she was responsible for running a successful branch of a large high end brand, whilst also volunteering as a committee member and membership secretary for a local non-for profit organisation. However, when she decided to move back to Brighton there was only one firm that she wanted to join - Sawyer & Co. One of the things that Shanade loves most about her hometown is that there's always something to do. Whether it's walking along the seafront or in the countryside on the South Downs, you're spoilt for choice.
Professional Photographer & Viewing Guide
Having graduated in 2008 with a degree in Fine Art, Rachael travelled the world for two years as the official photographer on a cruise ship. With a portfolio spanning everything from portraits to property, her wealth of work has been exhibited at both the Brighton and Photo Fringe festivals.
Now firmly established as a Brighton resident, when she's not busy taking beautiful photos of our properties Rachael enjoys baking, visiting art shows and practising her origami skills.
Like many ex-University of Sussex students, after finishing her degree in Ecology and the Environment Laura couldn't bring herself to leave our fair city with all its great restaurants, and decided to stay.
With a love of the natural world and the animals that inhabit it, Laura spent three months travelling across Costa Rica, Guatemala and Colombia volunteering in different conservation projects before she embarked on her property career.
When she's not busy keeping everything running smoothly in our Kemp Town branch, Laura can either be found in her local pub or playing tennis, and she loves the quirky personalities and accepting attitudes of her fellow Brighton residents. As a new supporter of the Seagulls, we'll try not to hold the fact that she still counts herself as a Chelsea fan against her!
After studying the culinary arts at the legendary River Cottage, in 2014 our Sales Negotiator Harvey decided to swap his chef's whites for the world of property.
Having become a Brighton & Hove resident, it's this city's atmosphere and mix of people that he loves and, when he's not hard at work in our Hove branch, on a sunny day you'll find him in a local pub garden or down on the beach with friends.
As an ex-chef it should come as no surprise that Harvey loves going out for a meal!
Katie Price MARLA
Having worked in the property sector since 2014 our new Property Manager, Katie, brings a wealth of knowledge to our Letttings team.
Whilst studying Costume Design and Making at Nottingham Trent University, Katie kept fit by playing rugby so it's no surprise that she's a Nottingham Tigers fan and is a bit of a gym-bunny.
Well-travelled, our PM spent three years living in Boston, MA, volunteered in an Argentinian Equine Therapy centre and studied in Hong Kong, as well as notching up passport stamps for Thailand, Singapore, Morocco and Canada.
Now firmly established as a Brighton & Hove resident, Katie loves being by the seaside and frequenting the city's quirky pubs with her friends or relaxing on the beach.
