Born in Brighton, Chris began his career in 1988 at a small local independent agent. From there he moved on to a large chain of estate agents where he quickly progressed to senior management level.
In 1996 Chris co-launched Tingleys Estate Agents which became one of the city's most respected independent companies and in 2009, following his acquisition of the business, Sawyer & Co was launched.
During 2016 Chris was the President of the Brighton & Hove Estate Agents Association (BHEAA) a role in which he was able to show his commitment to improving and maintaining the highest standards possible within the profession. The role enabled him to continue his longstanding support of numerous local charities and organisations, helping them to raise vital funds and awareness of their work. Chris is also a member of the National Advisory Council of the Guild of Professional Estate Agents.
An avid Brighton & Hove Albion supporter, Chris lives in Brighton and is married with 2 daughters.
Adam Farrell Dip Surv, FNAEA, MARLA
Adam grew up in Hove and has enjoyed a career in property sales and lettings since the late 1990's. Developing a well-rounded experience in both independent and corporate estate agency, Adam has progressed from Negotiator to Branch Manager and is now a Company Director.
Having passed the highest level exams, Adam holds a Fellow grade of membership at the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA). He has also achieved a Diploma in Surveying Practice at the College of Estate Management and is a member of the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) after passing their Technical Award exams.
Adam joined the Portslade office at the beginning of 2006 when the company was known as Tingleys Estate Agents. In 2014 he helped launch the Sawyer & Co Brighton office and with his hands on approach to management he continues to build on the company’s success.
Adam is married with three children and now lives in Steyning, whilst also being addicted to hang gliding!
Branch Manager, Hove Branch
Born in Brighton, Ashley finished his education and moved to Cyprus to work in the tourism industry. After a few years Ashley moved back to Brighton with his girlfriend and settled once again in the city where he joined an independent estate agent and started his career. Ashley quickly took to Estate Agency and fast progressed in his roles before joining another large independent agency within the city. Within a year of joining the new company Ashley was promoted to manager and grew the business year on year. Being aware of Sawyer & Co’s superb reputation, he did not hesitate to join the company when he was approached by Chris and Adam. He is currently the Branch Manager of the Hove office. Ashley’s interests are surfing, snowboarding and socialising with friends and family.
Kerry-Anne Holland MARLA
Senior Lettings Specialist
A shortlisted finalist for The Times Best Letting Agent of the Year 2016, Kerry-Anne joined Sawyer & Co in 2011 and has over 14 years' experience in estate agency.
After spending her early career working for a large corporate company in the Berkshire area, she took time off to travel Australia and Europe. On her return to the UK Kerry-Anne settled in Hove and was instrumental in the success of another independent estate agent in Hove for whom she worked for nine years.
Kerry-Anne's success at The Times Awards 2016 is due to her great enthusiasm for her job and her impressive pro-active and hard-working approach to everything she does.
Dominique Scott MNAEA
After a successful career in the music industry, Dominique moved to live in Hove from London in 2005 with her husband and 2 children. She joined the company that same year and has been an integral part of our team ever since. She has a natural flair for selling or letting properties. The enjoyment that she takes in her job as well as her passion for property is very evident for our clients to see. Dominique is also a keen tennis player.
Bob was born and raised in Brighton. His early career developed in the FMCG world working for Blue Chip organisations. Before commencing his long and successful career in the sports industry. Having worked for Adidas, Nike and O’Neill his career spanned 25 years rising to the position of Managing Director. In 2003 a career change beckoned and Bob took on an estate agency franchise setting up Bairstow Eves’s first office in Brighton. Following the sale of that business he spent the next few years in property development alongside creating a property search agency for London buyers wishing to move this great City. With wealth of sales, marketing and business development experience he joined Sawyer and Co from Brighton and Hove Albion (AITC) during 2014. Bob’s interests are football, racquet-ball, surfing and snowboarding. He lives in Hove with his 14 year old daughter.
Sarah Ledwidge AIRPM
Head of Block Management
Sarah moved to the Brighton & Hove area from Bedfordshire where she had previously worked for a large corporate estate management company. She has 11 years’ experience in block management and has developed a passion for property. Sarah’s extensive experience has allowed her to perfect the knowledge and skills required to provide the exceptional service for which Sawyer & Co is renowned. In her spare time Sarah enjoys spending time with her two daughters and playing Netball.
Joan is a valued member of staff and joined the company 12 years ago. Highly experienced, Joan has now been working locally as an estate agent for 20 years. As a well liked character Joan's commitment, enthusiasm and enjoyment in her work are frequently mentioned by our clients. A mother and grandmother, Joan lives in Hove and is a bridge player.
Head of Marketing
Jenny's love of words has led her to work at The Guardian national newspaper, interview media industry figures for Channel 4 and create a wide range of online marketing content for numerous household name companies. As a member of The Guild's Marketing Committee and having moved to Brighton over ten years ago, Jenny has a passion for property, music and football.
Emma Marcantonio MARLA
A true Brightonian, Emma joined the Sawyer & Co Lettings Department in February 2016 and has quickly become a valuable member of the team. As someone who loves to keep fit, Emma is an avid kickboxer and having started training in 2013 with SAMA she is rapidly progressing through the different coloured belt grading. Having lived in Brighton her whole life, Emma hopes to travel the world one day, but until then she brings her love of properties and extensive local knowledge to her role as a property manager.
Senior Negotiator and Land & New Homes Specialist
After studying Sociology at Bath University, where he also ran a successful club promotions company, Matt returned to his hometown of Brighton. Having been introduced to the world of property at an early age it’s no surprise that Matt has risen swiftly through the ranks to become one of our Senior Negotiators and our Land and New Homes Specialist. A committed Seagulls supporter, when he’s not supporting the Albion Matt is now a family man who enjoys walking the dog on the seafront and practising his culinary skills.
Harriet Wood MARLA
Having previously worked as a project planner, Harriet’s organisational skills, combined with her diploma in Business Management, make her an ideal addition to our Block Management team. A lifelong Shoreham by Sea resident, Harriet loves cooking and enjoys watching mystery and thriller films with a good twist.
Born and bred in Brighton, Toby is a long-term resident of Fiveways and his wealth of local knowledge makes him a very welcome addition to the Lettings team.
A huge sports fan, Toby can regularly be seen perfecting his swing at Dyke Golf Club where he currently plays with a handicap of 9. When he's not on the fairway or enjoying relaxing on the beach on a hot summer’s day, he enjoys playing and watching most sports and tries to go and watch his beloved Chelsea FC as much as possible.
Eva Brdusikova AATQB
Having originally moved to Brighton from the Czech Republic nine years ago to learn English, Eva realised what a fantastic place to live Brighton is and decided to stay.
With over five years’ experience in Lettings Eva joined the Sawyer & Co. team in early 2016 as our Lettings Accounts Manager and she is AAT qualified, having recently passed her final exams.
When she’s not studying or working, Eva likes to relax with a session of yoga or Pilates and on a sunny day you can spot her enjoying some in-line skating on the seafront.
Residential Lettings Manager
As part of a major restructuring of the lettings department, Joe Newman has been brought in to lead the team into a new era of success. With his proven lettings experience due to having managed another local company for many years, Joe's leadership style fits perfectly with the Sawyer & Co. approach to business in general and to rentals in particular.
A firm commitment to delivering outstanding customer service is only part of Joe's outlook, as he will also be overseeing the introduction of new and innovative systems that will make sure the firm stays one step ahead of the competition.
Having grown up on the wonderful island of Sicily, Irene moved to Brighton five years ago after falling in love with our vibrant city. A professional photographer for over thirteen years, Irene began her career studying in Italy and since then has worked with a host of internationally renowned photographers and has presented her own critically acclaimed photographic exhibition, Tra Passato e Presente. Irene has always lived by the sea and loves that living in Brighton and Hove means that there is always something new around the corner to discover. When she's not busy taking beautiful photos of our properties Irene loves to go up to Devil’s Dyke and watch the sun set over the city.
A Superstar handyman, who’s Super-hardworking with a Super-sized ‘can do’ attitude and sense of humour to match, Jozef is our very own in-house contractor and all round handyman.
When he's not busy helping to keep repair and maintenance costs down for our properties, Jozef loves to spend time playing with his children or enjoying a relaxing hour or two fishing at the marina.
Shanade McClelland MNAEA
Associate Director, Brighton Branch
Born in Brighton, Shanade knew she wanted to be an estate agent from the tender age of 14 when she chose the profession as her preferred work experience option. Following her progression to branch manager roles, Shanade moved to London where for two and a half years she was responsible for running a successful branch of a large high end brand, whilst also volunteering as a committee member and membership secretary for a local non-for profit organisation. However, when she decided to move back to Brighton there was only one firm that she wanted to join - Sawyer & Co. One of the things that Shanade loves most about her hometown is that there's always something to do. Whether it's walking along the seafront or in the countryside on the South Downs, you're spoilt for choice.
Professional Photographer & Viewing Guide
Having graduated in 2008 with a degree in Fine Art, Rachael travelled the world for two years as the official photographer on a cruise ship. With a portfolio spanning everything from portraits to property, her wealth of work has been exhibited at both the Brighton and Photo Fringe festivals.
Now firmly established as a Brighton resident, when she's not busy taking beautiful photos of our properties Rachael enjoys baking, visiting art shows and practising her origami skills.
Katie Price MARLA
Having worked in the property sector since 2014 our new Property Manager, Katie, brings a wealth of knowledge to our Letttings team.
Whilst studying Costume Design and Making at Nottingham Trent University, Katie kept fit by playing rugby so it's no surprise that she's a Nottingham Tigers fan and is a bit of a gym-bunny.
Well-travelled, our PM spent three years living in Boston, MA, volunteered in an Argentinian Equine Therapy centre and studied in Hong Kong, as well as notching up passport stamps for Thailand, Singapore, Morocco and Canada.
Now firmly established as a Brighton & Hove resident, Katie loves being by the seaside and frequenting the city's quirky pubs with her friends or relaxing on the beach.
Sales Progressor / Negotiator
Carron has moved between Brighton and London over the years but being a self-confessed ‘mermaid at heart’ it made sense for her to be by the sea. We have been lucky to have Carron with us for ten years but she has also worked for events companies, marketing companies and with retired Olympians who became motivational speakers.
When Carron isn’t being a hybrid estate-agency mermaid she likes to travel, write, swim, explore Brighton, spend time with family and enjoy a cocktail. Anything that combines all or most of the above is a bonus.
She has also recently become an accidental actress – look out for Carron as an extra in The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, a film by Mike Newell who also directed Four Weddings and a Funeral.
A proud graduate of the ‘University of Life,’ although he originally hails from Brighton Harry worked for 5 years in Dubai for one of the largest investment companies in the UAE selling luxury apartments to international investors.
Now he’s happy to be back in Brighton as he believes it has a unique vibe – this is also helped by the fact that he supports Brighton and Hove Albion football team.
When Harry isn’t busy at Sawyer and Co he loves to travel, particularly around Europe. You can also find him on Sundays enjoying a roast at the Preston Park Tavern.
Ceri has lived in Brighton for 20 years and loves the diversity and culture of the city. She originally studied Menswear Design but has now worked in property for 5 years.
In her spare time Ceri is a keen walker and enjoys going for hikes with her dog in the beautiful surrounding countryside of The Downs and Sussex villages and of course enjoys the wonderful seafront, making time to pop into restaurants along the way. Ceri has travelled extensively in the USA and the second city in her life is San Francisco which she says is almost as good as Brighton.
As a nod to her Celtic background, Ceri is an avid supporter of Wales and Ireland Rugby teams.
Sara has recently moved to Brighton and is new to the property sector. After a spell travelling, including working on a farm in Slovenia she is happy to be settled somewhere where there are more people than cows.
When she isn’t dealing with Sawyer and Co admin, Sara likes to take on creative projects, such as stage-management, putting on poetry nights and gigs and loves all forms of the arts. She is also working on producing a comprehensive mental list of the best pubs in the area. She knows this may take some time but is very dedicated to the cause.
Having studied Mechanical Engineering at Cardinal Newman Stu is very much a bit of a ‘challenge accepted,’ kind of guy. In 2014 Stu travelled over 30,000 miles through 30 USA States in 3 months, in 2015 he competed in the DCI World Championships and in 2017 he helped alongside other volunteers to build a primary school in Ghana.
In his spare time Stu competes in endurance karting races all over the UK and is currently in 4th place in the championship. He also plays badminton and his most recent passion is rock climbing. Stu also somehow manages to find time to support Brighton and Hove Albion and claims to sit down sometimes to enjoy some fish and chips on the beach.
Born and bred in Brighton, Joe is taking his first steps into the property trade with Sawyer and Co whilst studying Estate Agency at Brighton MET. He loves the atmosphere of Brighton in the summer but also used to regularly travel further afield to Kenya every year with his family to do charity work.
As well as having a charitable nature, Joe is also a 2nd Dan black belt in Taekwondo and has recently taken up Muay Thai.
Originally from London, Rachelle moved to Hove 8 years ago. She has a strong background in working for accountancy firms and brings years of experience with her to Sawyer and Co.
In her spare time, Rachelle loves to be creative and enjoys producing her own graphic design prints and photography. Somewhat of a fashion and beauty guru, Rachelle is also working on a lifestyle blog, full of top tips and delicious vegan and gluten free recipes.
Alex has joined us in Brighton after spending three years in London, working in high profile security. He loves Brighton beach during the summer and relaxing with a few beverages in the sunshine. A Tottenham supporter, Alex is also a fitness fanatic and is often at the gym or out running, so think twice before you challenge him to an arm wrestle or the hundred metres. Alex also loves going on city breaks and tries to make time to cross the waters every couple of years to soak up some culture.

Erica moved to Brighton around 20 years ago to study Photography at Brighton University and has loved it ever since. After escaping the student lifestyle she moved to London to work in property for a well-known fast paced agent before going travelling all over south east Asia, India, Indonesia and Australia. Brighton has always felt like home though, and Erica loves the diversity, general pace of life and of course living by the sea. When she’s not working you’ll find her walking her dog on the beach or watching the starling murmuration over the West Pier at sunset from the Fortune at War.
Senior Residential Sales and Lettings Specialist
Aaron has lived in Brighton for over six years and enjoys the diversity and the bohemian seaside lifestyle. Having travelled far and wide in a six month trip that took in Greece, Barbados, Singapore, Prague, Cuba and the USA, he loves Bali and has also been to Wales! A semi-pro at Netflixing, in his spare time Aaron likes taking a restorative stroll through Hove and going for a nice meal at either the Coal Shed or Cote. Another BHAFC supporter, when he’s not cheering them on Aaron likes to spend time with his family and keeping himself in shape.
John is Brighton born and bred and joins us with a wealth of both corporate and independent agency experience. Having spent a year working in Australia and exploring most of Asia, travelling remains a big passion.
He has a keen interest in keeping fit and although Small Batch Coffee is his second home at weekends, don’t let that fool you – he likes his coffee like he likes his martial arts belts. That’s right, John is a black belt in karate.
Joe joins us with a background in privately managing property portfolios, carrying out project renovations and finding and vetting tenants for clients. Prior to that he worked at Brighton and Hove Council in Housing and Homelessness which he found particularly rewarding.
Joe fell in love with Brighton when he studied at the University and despite living in London for a while he was drawn back by the sea and the wealth of unique events that happen year-round. 13 years later he is still very much enamoured with the city and has recently become a family man. Although a lot of his time is now spent changing nappies, he also finds times to play squash and football with friends every week and arrange group days out as well. He is also a super supporter of the Brighton Marathon and has been known to set up a sound system outside his house playing upbeat sounds to keep runners motivated!
