Brighton locals, have you heard about the pawsome feat achieved by our very own Coastway Vets? The dedicated team embarked on a marathon walk, covering a whopping 28 miles from Lewes to Shoreham, all in the name of charity. Their efforts raised an impressive sum £1,780 for Canine Partners, a charity that provides life-changing assistance dogs for people with disabilities.
The walk was a true community effort, with sixteen team members and their furry friends visiting each of Coastway’s surgeries along the route. Starting bright and early at 7:30 am from Lewes, the team trekked through Woodingdean and Telscombe, stopping at the Kemptown veterinary hospital for a well-deserved break and a warm welcome from Canine Partners representatives. After a refreshing pause, they continued their journey to Portslade, finally reaching the Shoreham surgery by 6 pm.
This isn’t the first time Coastway Vets has put their best foot forward for charity. Last year, they also completed a ‘Big Walk’, and they have plenty more fundraising activities planned. From dog shows to raft races, and even a 100km Big Hike from London to Brighton, the team is committed to supporting local wildlife charities, RNLI, Pride, and Vetlife.
Veterinary nurse Jay Lisher noted that despite the length of the walk, everyone found it rewarding. The beautiful countryside and the camaraderie kept spirits high, even when the terrain was challenging.
At Sawyer & Co, we love seeing our community come together for such worthy causes. It’s this spirit that makes Brighton a wonderful place to live. If you’re looking for a new home in this vibrant community, we’re here to help!
