The observatory boasts powerful telescopes, including a Dwarf 3 and SeeStar S50, allowing Astronomy Club students to embark on their own cosmic quests. These budding astronomers can select their celestial targets, gather raw data, and create stunning astronomical photographs. But that’s not all—the College also has access to robotic telescopes stationed in far-flung locations like Chile, the Canary Islands, and Australia, offering a global perspective on the universe.

Gary Newport, a Computer Science Teacher and Astrophysicist at OIC Brighton, is thrilled about the new observatory. He says, “Our Astronomy Club is an incredible way to combine science, technology, and creativity while inspiring curiosity about the universe. Our new observatory will provide students with unique opportunities to explore both nearby and distant worlds: experiences few students get to have.”

Newport has already put the Dwarf 3 digital telescope to the test in Northern Italy, capturing breathtaking images of a globular cluster—a tightly bound group of ancient stars.
