Brighton & Hove Girls Shine in Football

Brighton and Hove are buzzing with excitement as three local girls’ school football teams have stormed their way into the semi-finals of the ESFA National Cup! The under-12, under-13, and under-14 teams are set to represent our vibrant city in matches that will take them as far afield as Cornwall, South Wales, and Liverpool.

The under-12 team showed incredible resilience, turning a 1-0 half-time deficit into a triumphant 2-1 victory against East Cornwall. Meanwhile, the under-13 team, who were under-11 champions just two years ago, have continued their winning streak by defeating Lewisham 6-0, earning them a spot in Swansea for their semi-final clash. Not to be outdone, the under-14 team, last year’s National Plate winners, are gearing up to face Sefton in Liverpool.

A spokesperson from Brighton, Hove and District Schools Football highlighted a recent BBC survey that named Sussex as the top region for providing opportunities for girls in football. This success story of our school teams certainly supports those findings, and it’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of the girls, their teachers, and coaches.

As the teams prepare for their upcoming matches, the community’s support is more vital than ever. Whether you’re a football enthusiast or simply proud of our local talent, this is a moment to celebrate. And if you’re considering making Brighton and Hove your home, rest assured that our community is as vibrant and supportive as it gets. At Sawyer & Co, we’re always here to help you find your perfect place in this thriving city.

Go, Brighton & Hove girls! We’re cheering you on every step of the way.
