Friday 5th February saw a sold out crowd attend the annual Brighton and Hove Estate Agents Association Gala Dinner at The Grand hotel. Welcoming in our very own Chris Sawyer as President for 2016, apart from having a lot of fun the night was very special for two notable reasons.
After welcoming everyone to the Black Tie event Chris awarded a very stunned and surprised Steve Cales, owner of Cales & Co, a lifetime achievement award.
Established in the 1980’s Cales & Co are one of the longest running agencies in the area. Highly regarded within the industry for his ethical approach it was no surprise that Steve received a standing ovation as he made his way to the stage and unbeknown to Steve we had arranged for his family and friends to be there to share the moment. Thanks to everyone who managed to keep it a secret!
As promised there were “no long speeches” on Friday night and Chris kept it short and to the point when he introduced the work of The Clock Tower Sanctuary .
“I was really thrilled that the short film about the work The Clock Tower Sanctuary got such a great reaction. All of the 350 plus people there applauded the film shown on the big screens which told “Will’s story” and his experience of being homeless in our city and getting his life back on track with the help of The Clock Tower,” said Chris.
“I had lots of people telling me through the evening that they now understood the value of the work of this brilliant charity and the very positive impact its having on our cities young homeless.
We hope that we have helped to raise the profile and awareness for The Clock Tower as well as much needed funds for them.”
After dinner Brighton’s very own Revolver got everyone up on their feet and played to a full dancefloor, swiftly followed by DJ Malcolm Scott who carried on where they left off with some great floor fillers.
All in all it was a great night with a great atmosphere. Thank you to everyone who came, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
