Day one of Brighton and Hove Pride 2025 was a dazzling spectacle that painted the town in all the colours of the rainbow. From the lively parade to the electrifying performances, the city was alive with joy and celebration.
The festivities kicked off at 11am with the parade starting at Hove Lawns. It wound its vibrant way through the city streets, a moving tapestry of flags, floats, and fabulous costumes, before arriving at Preston Park around 1pm. The atmosphere was electric as thousands gathered, eagerly anticipating the star-studded line-up.
The legendary Sister Sledge set the stage with their iconic disco beats, getting the crowd grooving right from the start. Eurovision sensation Loreen followed, captivating everyone with her enchanting pop melodies. But it was Mariah Carey who stole the show, closing the day with a performance full of glitz, glamour, and heartfelt support for the LGBTQ+ community. Her powerful message of solidarity resonated deeply, as she promised to “always be there” for the community, donning a jacket with “protect the dolls” emblazoned on it.
Among the crowd were Blue Siren and Mel, two friends soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. For Mel, it was a first-time experience, while Blue Siren is a seasoned Pride attendee. They shared, “We’re here for a good time and a sense of community. We raise our signs and flags higher in response to hate, spreading our message louder.”
