Brighton’s The Coal Shed Relocates September
Fri 02 Aug 2024
Exciting news for Brighton foodies! The beloved steakhouse, The Coal Shed, is set to relocate from Boyce’s Street to a more spacious venue on North Street, officially opening its doors in September. This move to Clarence House will nearly triple its dining capacity, accommodating up to 142 guests, and promises an elevated culinary experience.
The new site was initially slated for a spring opening, but the wait is almost over. The Coal Shed’s expanded menu will continue to highlight their renowned fire-cooking techniques, not just for beef but also for a variety of proteins, vegetables, and vegan dishes. Seafood lovers can look forward to both raw and flame-cooked options, while a selection of oven-cooked breads and dishes will add to the gastronomic delight.
One of the standout features of the new location is The Salt Chamber, one of Brighton’s first Himalayan salt-ageing rooms. This ancient technique enhances flavours and aromas, allowing the kitchen to hand butcher beef to precise specifications. Expect premium cuts from top British suppliers, including a mouth-watering Black Angus prime rib.
For the first time, The Coal Shed will also boast a dedicated bar, seating up to 25 guests. Inspired by London’s finest bars, the cocktail menu will reimagine classic drinks with contemporary twists. Small bites and sharing plates will be available, making it an ideal spot for casual meet-ups.
The ambiance at Clarence House promises to be both relaxed and inviting. Original brickwork and features have been meticulously restored, complemented by blackened and charred wood, terracotta tiling, leather seating, and fresh foliage. The venue will span five distinct dining areas, including a grand dining room, bar, and three private dining rooms. One private space, seating 26, will serve as an event space with its own bar, bespoke menus, private entrance, dedicated sound system, and serving team.
Mark your calendars for September 1, the last day to dine at the original Coal Shed location. The new North Street site is set to become one of Brighton’s largest and most exciting dining destinations.
